We ask for very little, we keep it for as long as it is useful to you, and we never sell it. This notice explains exactly what happens to what you send us.
The Cargo Room is a private commodity deal network. The operator of the network is the data controller for the information described in this notice.
We keep a low public profile on purpose: the counterparties in this business expect discretion, and so do our members. That does not extend to your rights. Any question about this notice, and any of the rights in section 8, can be raised in writing at the address given at the end of this notice, and we answer every request. If you have applied to the room, or we otherwise hold data about you, we will also confirm the full legal identity and registered address of the controller to you on request.
Only what you choose to send us through the application form. Nothing else is collected by us.
| Category | Detail |
|---|---|
| Identification | Name and surname |
| Contact | Email address, and any other contact detail you volunteer |
| Professional | Company, role, country, the products or markets you have access to, and anything else you write in the form |
| Correspondence | Emails you exchange with us, and notes from an introduction call if one takes place |
We do not ask for, and do not want, special category data, identity documents, bank details or financial credentials. Please do not send them.
Nobody buys it and nobody rents it. We use a small number of established service providers who process data strictly on our instructions:
Some of these providers operate outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
Beyond the legal minimum above: what you tell us about your access, your counterparties or your deals stays inside the room. It is not published, it is not shown to other members, and it is not used as content. That is not only a policy — it is the reason the network works.
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. We do not track you across the internet and there is no advertising pixel on this page.
The typefaces are served from our own domain, so opening this site sends nothing to any font provider. The only third-party resource that loads is the embedded Tally form on the application page, which may set cookies strictly necessary for it to work. It is not used to profile you.
Under the GDPR you can ask us at any time to:
Write to us at the address at the end of this notice. We reply within one month, and normally much sooner. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request, you also have the right to raise it with the data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence.
Access to applications is restricted to the people who need it. Accounts are protected with two-factor authentication and the data sits with providers that encrypt it in transit and at rest. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affected your data and posed a risk to you, we would tell you and the regulator.
If we change how we handle information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be notified to anyone with an active application.
This notice is issued by the operator of The Cargo Room and applies to thecargoroom.co and to the application form hosted on it. It is reviewed whenever our practices change. Written requests under section 8, and any question arising from it, reach us at privacy@thecargoroom.co and are handled by the same person who reviews the applications.
